The tuning fork a1 440 Hz with plastic base is primarily used in the ENT area to examine the air and bone conduction of sound. To do this, the tuning fork is struck on the heel of the hand and vibrated and placed on the mastoid process. When the sound is no longer audible to the patient, the tuning fork is held in front of the ear without striking again. The normally hearing patient then hears the sound again immediately and the Rinne test is therefore positive. In the well-known Weber Rinne experiment, air and bone conduction are compared. This makes it possible to carry out a quick, clinically oriented hearing test and to identify the type of hearing loss. The Gellé experiment is also carried out with this tuning fork and a Politzer balloon. This examination checks the mobility of the ossicular chain and the result provides helpful information in diagnosing otosclerosis.

The blank of the tuning fork a1 440 Hz is made from a block of special steel using the latest CNC milling technology. Further processing is carried out by hand following a 140-year family tradition. All forks are tuned, ground and polished several times during the production process, just as our family has traditionally been producing with the highest precision for almost 140 years. At the end, the frequency is checked again and only then does each tuning fork receive the CE mark. All medical tuning forks are manufactured and marketed in accordance with the European Regulation 2017/745 - EU-MDR.
